In The CW's hit drama, "The Vampire Diaries," Nina Dobrev plays a double role, starring as Elena Gilbert, a beautiful young girl caught between two vampire brothers, and as Katherine Pierce, the ruthless vampire the brothers knew and loved in the nineteenth century.

Dobrev recently wrapped production on "The Killing Game," with Kellan Lutz and Samuel L. Jackson. The film centers on a man (Lutz) who is kidnapped and forced into the world of modern gladiators. Dobrev plays Lutz's wife. She will also be seen in Screen Gems' "The Roommate," with Leighton Meester and Minka Kelly.

Dobrev was last seen in Montecito Pictures' "Chloe," with Julianne Moore, Amanda Seyfried and Liam Neeson. Other past film credits include "Fugitive Pieces," with Ayelet Zurer and Rosamund Pike, "Away From Her," with Julie Christie, and "The Poet."

Television credits include lead roles on "DeGrassi: The Next Generation" and "MTV's The All American Mall," as well as a guest appearance on "Eleventh Hour." She has also appeared in the television movies "Never Cry Werewolf" and "Too Young to Marry."

Born in Bulgaria, Dobrev moved to Canada at the age of 2 and grew up in Toronto, Ontario. She currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and in Atlanta, Georgia, where "The Vampire Diaries" is filmed.

Twilight Saga

Twilight is a young-adult vampire-romance novel by author Stephenie Meyer. "FRIDAY NIGHT BITES"

Setting

 Alexander Corvinus is considered the first immortal, and the progenitor of the Vampire and Lycan lines. He was the only survivor of a plague that wiped out his village. Somehow, his body was able to mutate the virus, mold it to his own benefit. He had three sons, of which two inherited his father's immortality and were bitten, one by bat and one by wolf, creating the Vampire and Lycan lines. Corvinus' third son, who did not inherit immortality, also carried the Corvinus Strain, hidden away in his genetic code — an exact duplicate of the original virus, passed along to his human descendants through the centuries. This, according to Singe, is the key to creating a hybrid.

Underworld (2003)

Underworld tells the story of Selene (played by Kate Beckinsale), a Death Dealer bent on destroying Lycans as an act of revenge against the Lycans that allegedly killed her family. She discovers that the Lycans are pursuing a human, Michael Corvin, for experimentation; Selene captures Michael herself to find out what the Lycans are up to. Along the way, Selene not only discovers a mutinous plot to destroy the Vampire Elders, but also a shocking revelation about her father-like Elder,Viktor.

Underworld

Underworld is a 2003 action-horror film about the secret history of Vampires and a type of werewolf known as Lycans (an abbreviated form of lycanthrope). It is the first film in the Underworld series. The main plot revolves around Selene (Kate Beckinsale), a vampire who is a Death dealer hunting Lycans. She finds herself attracted to a human, Michael Corvin (Scott Speedman) who is being targeted by the Lycans. After Michael is bitten by a Lycan, Selene must decide whether to do her duty and kill him or go against her clan and save him.While reviewers generally received the film negatively, criticizing the overacting and lack of character development, a smaller number of reviewers praised elements such as the film's stylish Gothic visuals, the "icy English composure" in Kate Beckinsale's performance, and the extensively worked-out vampire-werewolf mythology that serves as the film's backstory.

The Vampire Diaries is an American supernatural-fantasy horror television series developed by Kevin Williamson, based on the book series of the same name by L.J Smith. The series follows the life of Elena Gilbert (Nina Dobrev), who falls in love with vampire Stefan Salvatore (Paul Wesley), and soon finds herself caught in a love triangle between Stefan and his older brother, Damon (Ian Somerhalder), while the brothers are also being haunted by the past they've had with Katherine Pierce (also played by Nina Dobrev). The show initially received average reviews, but critics agreed that the series improved over the course of the season; the second season premiered to generally favorable reviews. The Quileute language belongs to the Chimakuan family of languages among Northwest Coast indigenous peoples. The Quileute language is one of only five known languages lacking nasal sounds (i.e., m and n).

Dask'iya (also spelled Dassk'iya, Daskiya, and other ways.) Dask'iya is a cannibal ogress in Quileute tales, sometimes known as a "basket ogress" or "basket woman." She is said to capture children in her basket and carry them home to eat them. Stories about Dask'iya are told to frighten Quileute children and warn them away from bad behavior. Her name is pronounced similar to dusk-ee-yuh.
